Supermoon

Tonight is the supermoon, when the full moon coincides with the its closest approach to earth. This time, I finally got a decent picture of the moon — using the kit lens, too!

To take this shot, I used manual mode and a lot of trial and error. The sensor kept coming out as undersaturated, but I just kept tweaking the settings until I could see the features in the moon. I took the shot as a raw, cropped it, and fixed the exposure. Since I was just using the kit lens, the resultant image is only 200×200 pixels; but that’s okay, with a lens that only goes to 55 mm, I’m just glad to get a shot mostly in focus.
